BBC breakfast fans shared heartfelt messages of support with weather presenter Carol Kirkwood after she opened about how grief can creep up on you at anytime.
Carol, 61, took to social media to share how she was feeling this morning, in between appearances on BBC Breakfast.

The popular BBC presenter reached out to her fans on X, formerly Twitter, today in a tweet.
“Isn’t it strange how grief just creeps up on you again …. when you least expect it … long after someone has passed away,” she wrote.
While Carol didn’t share any more details about her personal experience, she was still flooded with support from her fans.
Many empathised with the presenter and said they understand what she’s feeling.
“Good morning Carol. Grief is always by our side. We learn to live with it, but it does creep up on us when we are not looking. Sending love and hugs,” one of her fans replied.
Another issued a statement of support, saying: “It never goes away, it just creeps up on you when you least expect it and hits you like a sledgehammer in the chest!”
A third added: “Oh yes, it’s agony sometimes. Take care of yourself.”
“It never leaves you. You get a reminder when you least expect it. Thinking of you,” said a fourth.
Another of Carol’s fans admitted they know that feeling of grief all too well. “I can be sitting in a meeting or driving my car or just walking around and the missile hits. The emptiness returns, the hollowing out and the realisation that they are gone forever. It hits as hard as ever,” they said.
“That is grief encapsulated. Sending love and prayers,” a sixth fan added, while another fan offered their best wishes, writing “I hope you’re Ok Carol, time is a great healer but you’ll never forget.”
Carol didn’t name the person she was thinking about today, although her comments come almost a year after the death of her former BBC co-star Bill Turnbull.
Bill passed away at the end of August last year at age 66 after a “challenging” battle with prostate cancer. He was diagnosed in 2018.
Carol previously paid the star a sweet tribute in a special BBC memorial show which celebrated Bill’s life and aimed to raise awareness of prostate cancer. It aired two days after his death.
On the show, Carol shared a couple of her favourite memories of Bill.
“I loved working with Bill because he was so naughty, he had that little twinkle and sparkle in his eye and you didn’t always know what you were going to get,” she recalled.
Carol went on to say that Bill’s sense of humour was one of his best qualities.
“I remember one time I was in the Blue Peter garden and I was doing an experiment with measuring jugs.
“He always called me Kirky, and he said, ‘Kirky, are you going to do your experiment again in the programme?’”
“I said, ‘Yes I’ll have my jugs out in 15 minutes’ and his face was going bright red from trying not to laugh and then he just erupted… that was Bill,” Carol reminisced.
