Carol was on The One Show to talk about her new book

But in recent years, she has turned her hand to writing and is about to release her third novel, Secrets of the Villa Amore.

The BBC Breakfast star appeared on The One Show on Wednesday to discuss her latest book, and shared some interesting insights as to what fans could expect.

She said: “It is set around two families and there are two successful wine-producing families, one more successful than the other.

“And the families have been intertwined for generations, and it’s expected that some of the siblings will get married and increase this dynasty.

“So the wedding of the year is planned, no expenses spared… anybody who’s anybody is going to attend the wedding.

“So you’ve got Hollywood glamorous starlets coming along, you’ve got members of the mafia as well. So there’s a wee bit of a dark streak in this particular book.”

Carol continued: “But both families have got secrets and these secrets can ruin relationships and destroy lives literally.

“There’s betrayal, there’s murder, there’s jealousy, and there’s scandal all waiting to be revealed.”

Host Jermaine Jenas asked if this book had been “different to write” compared to her previous two novels.

Carol replied: “It is a little bit darker than the previous books, Jermaine you’re absolutely right.

“And it was just taking it in a slightly different tangent. It’s still a romance, in essence, and it’s still got twists and turns and jeopardy and stuff like that in it.

“But I just wanted just to try something a little bit different.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
