CASUALTY legend Amanda Mealing reunited with her former co-star Jane Hazlegrove – after she landing a top job on Coronation Street.
The actress shared a photo from the set of the ITV soap while directing a block of episodes.
Alongside Amanda was Jane – who played Kathleen ‘Dixie’ Dixon on Casualty for over 400 episodes – starring as Bernie Winter in one of the episodes.
Amanda smiled at the camera with a pair of earphones round her neck while Jane threw her hands in the hair as they stood by an alley in Weatherfield.
Jane captioned the photo: “Absolutely LOVED working with this one again.
@itvcorrie only gave me one scene to direct her in but it just takes one scene for Ms Hazelgrove to smash it!
”
Moving on
The Celeb Report revealed last week that the Connie Beauchamp actress would be directing a block of episodes of Corrie.
Amanda hinted about her new job earlier this month when she tweeted about the Queen visiting her workplace.
The Queen spent an afternoon at the Corrie studios in a belated visit to celebrate the soap’s 60th anniversary.
Amanda tweeted: “Well, not often HRH herself pops in to my work! Ha!”
Fans began to beg for information, asking if she had joined the cast of the ITV soap.
However she remained silent on the speculation.
Earlier this year Amanda announced she was quitting Casualty.
The actress played consultant Connie for seven years on Casualty, and 11 years previously on Holby City.
She said: “It has been the most remarkable privilege to play Connie for the last 18 years.
“When she first hit our screens there were few female leads that weren’t ‘the wife of…’, ‘the mistress of…’ or needed ‘rescuing’.
“Most important for me is knowing that Connie has inspired so many women and young girls to seek careers, seek independence and strive to be their best.”
