The doctor rocked him with some news

Throughout the episode, Max seemed somewhat distracted during the madness of the ED.

But it was clear that he was holding something back from his colleagues – something that Dylan started to become suspicious about.

In a moment away from dealing with patients, it was Max himself who became a patient.

He could be seen getting told some unidentified information and he seemed shook to the core at what he had heard.

The doctor’s voice was distorted before he could be heard saying: “At least you’ve been here before and know what to expect.

“And you’ve got people you can talk to, a support network.”

It was then suggested that Max may need to take some time off work as he was told his team could help ‘pick up the slack’.

One fan penned online: “Oh dear Max has been given bad news.”

Another added: “What did he just tell Max?”

While a third wrote of the character: “Max pushing everyone away.”

However, it was revealed that in the final moment that Max actually had kidney failure.

It led to a showdown with his daughter Jodie as he refused to tell her what was going on and shouted her down.

Fans have demanded that he tell her the truth with one saying: “Poor Jodie… Max should just be honest!”

As another added: “Oh Max you’re stubborn.”
