Furious Parents React
Parents were left panicking as a major children's channel, CBBC, dropped off the air due to a global tech outage. The same issues also impacted a leading news broadcaster, causing chaos for viewers.
CBBC Goes Offline
Popular children's channel CBBC found itself off the air for part of Friday due to a global IT outage that affected its broadcasting. The channel, known for shows like Blue Peter and The Dumping Ground, launched in 2002 and caters to youngsters aged six to 15. Fortunately, its sister channel CBeebies was not affected.
Sky News Breakfast Programme Hit
Sky News was also impacted by the tech outage, causing its breakfast programme to experience technical errors. Presenters were unable to go live, and the station had to air a pre-recorded film while working to restore services.
Issues Identified and Services Restored
Cybersecurity software firm CrowdStrike identified the cause of the global outage as a flawed anti-viral update. Both CBBC and Sky News have since returned to screens, alleviating concerns for viewers.
