Celebrity Big Brother U-turn
Celebrity Big Brother took an unexpected turn as axed star Zeze Millz made an appearance in the final after her past "offensive" tweets resurfaced this week. The Celeb Report revealed shocking historic posts from Zeze's Twitter account dating back to November 2010 and May 2011.
Controversial Tweets
Zeze Millz, a YouTube star, faced backlash as old 'homophobic' and 'racist' tweets surfaced online. Despite the tweets being over a decade old, they were still live on her page until recently when they were mysteriously deleted. One tweet from 2010 made a racist claim about Chinese restaurants, while another tweet in 2011 appeared to contain a homophobic remark.
Fan Disappointment
Fans expressed disappointment upon discovering Zeze's past tweets, with one fan stating, "It was frustrating and surprising to see her pedaling racist tropes about Chinese restaurants in an apparent attempt at humor." The fan also raised concerns about the effectiveness of background checks carried out by ITV and production company Initial.
ITV's Response
ITV and Initial responded to the controversy by highlighting the extensive background checks conducted on all housemates and the training provided on respect and inclusion. This incident marks the second social media scandal to impact the show since its reboot last year, following a similar situation with contestant Trish Balusa.
Second Social Media Scandal
Trish Balusa faced backlash when historic tweets from 2012 resurfaced, containing derogatory references to Asian people, lesbians, and vile remarks about Hitler. As a result, Trish was removed from scheduled appearances on Big Brother's spin-off show and was uninvited from the series' final.
