Fans Unhappy with Format
Viewers of Celebrity MasterChef were left disappointed as this year's final episode was only a mere 30 minutes long. The show's format, which rushed through the impressive three-course meals of finalists Wynne Evans, Amy Walsh, and Luca Bish, left fans wanting more.
Outrage on Social Media
Fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the short final. One fan on X complained, "Unfortunately didn't listen last time, the final is always too short - can easily make it an hour-long show .. disappointed." Another Twitter user added, "Should the final of #CelebrityMasterChef not be an hour, seems rather rushed in half an hour? Should definitely be an hour!"
Wynne Evans Claims Victory
Despite the disappointment with the show's format, Wynne Evans, the Go Compare star, emerged as the winner of Celebrity MasterChef 2023. The operatic tenor impressed judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode with his traditional Welsh-inspired three-course meal consisting of a tuna tartare starter, lamb on fried bread main, and classic Welsh teacake dessert.
Impressive Competition
Evans faced tough competition from Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh and Love Island star Luca Bish in the kitchen. Walsh prepared Indian-spiced prawns, roast lamb with Indian spices, and a saffron baklava cake for her dessert. Bish served up a starter of scallops, a traditional Italian tortellini main, and panacotta dessert with whiskey liquor.
Judges' Praise for Wynne Evans
Despite the impressive dishes from all three finalists, Gregg Wallace and John Torode were blown away by Wynne Evans' culinary skills. Gregg commented, "Wynne gives us theatre. I have never seen a celebrity cook like him ever before. I'm not sure we ever will again!"
Wynne Evans described his time on Celebrity MasterChef as "beautiful" and celebrated his victory by belting out the hymn "Cwm Rhondda (Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer)" while proudly holding his trophy high.
