Hunted returns to Channel 4 this weekend with a brutal new twist

The contestants must make their initial escape from an island

The real-life thriller sees ordinary people go on the run from a team of expert hunters made up of ex-military, law enforcement and security forces.

If the fugitives can evade capture for long enough they could win a share of the £100,000 prize money up for grabs.

The name of the game is for the contestants to avoid capture from highly skilled hunters.

They can take anything they can carry with them, including tents, food, and disguises, and they are given access to a bank account with £250 in it.

DOWN FOR IT?

Countdown fans are convinced ex C4 star will take over from Anne Robinson

The elite line-up of police and military personnel will attempt to track down the fugitives using live CCTV, drones, tracker dogs, mobile phone monitoring and publicity campaigns.

And for the first time ever in Hunted history, the contestants must make their initial escape from an island.

They will arrive on a deserted beach on the Isle of Wight with just a small amount of cash and a change of clothes.

Contestants taking part in this series include an ex-military veteran, a serving police officer and a couple who are “experienced urban explorers”.

In the opening episode, the fugitives arrive on a deserted beach with only a change of clothes and a small amount of cash.

They must get back to the mainland as quickly as possible as the hunters close in on their position.

To win, the contestants must head to an extraction point, that will only become clear to them towards the end of the series.

Hunted will begin its sixth series on Sunday, 22 May at 9PM on Channel 4.
