Christine McGuinness has opened up about her estranged husband Paddy's foray into the world of dating. The couple, who announced their separation in July 2022, continue to live together in their Cheshire home. However, Christine shared that they are both unsure of what the future holds.
Open communication
Speaking on The Secret To... podcast with Vicky Pattison, Christine, 35, revealed that she and Paddy, 50, have maintained a close and open line of communication. She said, "We talk an awful lot and we're very open. He has said to me when he's been going on a date."
Uncertain about the next step
Despite Paddy venturing into the dating scene, Christine explained that neither of them feels ready to pursue new relationships at this time. She said, "We still live in the same house. But I think both of us right now we're very much in the same place, where we're just like just don't really know what to do or where to go."
A long history
Christine reflected on their 16-year marriage, emphasizing that it has been a significant part of their lives. She admitted feeling unsure about how to navigate the dating world after being with Paddy for so long. She said, "I've been with him since I was 19, so my dating history before him was an absolute mess then I've had this lovely long marriage. I kind of don't really know where to go, where to start, and he's the same, he's very much the same. He's tried it and he's gone 'I'm not quite ready'."
Looking to the future
Christine acknowledged that it might be "easier" for both of them once they no longer live together. She also discussed her own love life, sharing that she hasn't been on a date since separating from Paddy almost two years ago. Despite chatting and having fun at times, she admitted that she is not ready for a serious relationship. Christine revealed that she has never used a dating site and is unsure how to approach dating in today's world.
Navigating the dating scene
Christine expressed her difficulty in deciphering whether someone is interested in her romantically or simply being friendly. She admitted, "I'm not great at reading people. So I wouldn't know if someone approached me and they were actually coming on to me or they were just being friendly. I just think everyone's being friendly."
As Christine and Paddy continue to navigate their personal lives, they are taking the time to figure out their next steps and what truly makes them happy.
