ACROSS its 16-year run, Come Dine With Me has become a cult cooking programme – but the quality of the food hasn’t always been up to scratch.
In order to become the perfect dinner party host, each participant of the Channel 4 flagship show takes turns during the week to cook and entertain the rest.
The rivals, meanwhile, snoop around the house and award points in the end.
But in order to secure those valuable points, contestants must prepare a three-course meal that’s worthy of winning a £1,000 cash prize.
However, the show has been host to some disgusting meals during its time – from raw chicken to microwaved steaks and even a pink sausage trifle.
Here, The Celeb Report takes a look at some of the worst Come Dine With Me meals in the history of the show.
Raw chicken
Raw chicken. The unforgivable. The worst sin you could possibly commit for a dinner party.
Over the years, there’s been a few circumstances of said sin on the show, but none worse than Edith and Martin’s effort.
To put guests’ concerns at ease, they even reiterated that the chicken had been in the oven for “ages”, cementing its credibility that it was cooked enough to eat.
Soupless Thai soup
Probably not the worst on the list, but soup is definitely not supposed to look this foul.
Rob promised a spicy Thai soup, however, he accidentally left all the liquid to be soaked up.
The end result? A serving of bland vegetables and chunks of chicken. Pass.
Dry beef
Everything was cooked, everything was perfectly edible – it just wouldn’t be an enjoyable meal unless, of course, you had ample drinks on hand to rehydrate your dry mouth.
Still, protein and vegetables were on the dish, two of the most important food groups.
It’s a shame – if the meal included a sauce it could’ve salvaged things somewhat.
Chocolate mousse
Chocolate mousse should never have the consistency it did here.
Watching it drip from the spoons looking close to porridge was a good indication that not everything went to plan.
Again, some bonus points for the generosity of offering guests a straw to suck it all up.
Sausage trifle
Right, now we’ve seen it all. Sausage in a trifle.
A social media favourite, we couldn’t neglect to include Annie Rose’s obsession with pork.
She included them in her starter and her main, but then she mixed sweet and savoury with a dessert that feels plucked straight from Friends.
Even less appetising, the trifle came out as pink and that should be enough to put anyone off their dinner.
