Contestants on MAFS UK have little say in their wedding details, claims groom

Wedding day control

The new season of Married At First Sight UK has arrived, bringing with it a group of hopeful brides and grooms eager to find love. However, one cast member has revealed that the contestants have little say in the details of their wedding day. Georges, a contestant from the 2023 season, admitted that the couples are given a booklet to choose various aspects of their wedding, but their preferences are never taken into consideration.

A disappointing experience

Georges and his wife Peggy made specific requests for their wedding, but were not granted any of them. They both asked for disposable cameras and similar color schemes, but were disappointed to find that these requests were ignored. According to Georges, the only things they were able to choose were the ring and the outfit. He revealed that the contestants are given a form to fill out, but it is simply a way to make them feel like they have control over their wedding.

A rushed ceremony

In addition to the lack of control over their wedding details, Georges also expressed disappointment with the wedding ceremonies themselves. He described them as "quick" and claimed that he didn't have much time to get to know his bride's family. The grooms also appear to receive inferior accommodations compared to the brides. Georges revealed that his room was much smaller than Peggy's. However, he acknowledged that this difference is to be expected.

Behind-the-scenes revelations

Georges is not the only MAFS UK contestant to share behind-the-scenes details about the weddings. Alexis Economou, who was part of the show in 2022, disclosed that the couples are sent options for flower arrangements, table colors, and decor. The selections from both the bride and groom are combined to create the final look. Alexis also revealed that the wedding day is extensively filmed, with multiple takes of the vows, entering the church, and leaving. After saying 'I do', the husband and groom are immediately separated for interviews, likely to capture their "first conversations" and initial reactions.

The weddings on MAFS UK may appear glamorous on the surface, but it seems that the contestants have little control over their special day. From the choice of wedding details to the rushed ceremonies and unequal accommodations, the reality show experience may not be as ideal as it seems.
