Cooking with the Stars viewers have a big complaint after just one episode of new series

COOKING with the Stars viewers all had the same complaint about the celebrities taking part – branding them as “Z-listers”.

The ITV series returned on Tuesday night with a new bunch of celebs showcasing their cooking skills.

The new series is fronted by hosts Emma Willis and Tom Allen

Cooking head to head with one another, the two losers of the episode had to battle it out for a chance to make it into the next round.

The eight celebrities competing in this year’s show are Anton Du Beke, Joe Wilkinson, Dr Ranj Singh, Anne Hegerty, Woody Cook, Josie Gibson, Dame Kelly Holmes and Maura Higgins.

Those watching at home, however, were left disappointed with the famous faces taking part and took to Twitter to air their annoyance.

Alongside an array of shocked-faced emojis one person penned: “Stars is a word that should be used very loosely on this show.”

Echoing their comments, someone else said: “All the usual Z-listers are on I see. How typical.”

While a third remarked: “Let me know when the stars arrive to replace these bunch of nobodies.”

During last night’s episode, Strictly Come Dancing legend Anton was partnered up with renowned chef Rosemary Shrager and was one of the first contestants to take part in the cook-off.

Competing against Anton was comedian Joe who had been mentored by Judy Joo.

Anton cooked up pork chops with apple sauce, sherry and mustard vinaigrette and topped them off with crackling.

Joe, meanwhile, made homemade fish and chips with a kimchi tartare sauce.

During the taste test, each judge agreed that Anton’s pork chops were a little overcooked with too much fat on them, however, they seemed to love his apple sauce.

For Joe, the judges were stunned at how crispy the batter around his fish was but were let down by his tartare sauce, as they agreed they couldn’t taste it.

Unfortunately for Joe, his dish wasn’t up to scratch for the judges, and he was sent into the final cook-off with the chance of being sent home.

Cooking with the Stars airs Tuesday from 8pm on ITV.
