Daisy and Daniel are getting ready to tie the knot
But the barmaid is being tormented by a stalker
Charlotte Jordan teased trouble ahead for the Weatherfield couple
Former Hollyoaks actor Andrew Still recently joined the ITV soap line-up as Justin, a man who became infatuated with the Rovers barmaid after meeting her by chance in hospital.
When his persistence became dangerous, as he followed her to a wedding fair in recent scenes, Daisy realised Justin was troubled by delusions and there would be no telling what he’s capable of doing to have the relationship he wants with her.
As a result, she was encouraged by her fiancé Daniel (Rob Mallard) to go to the police and report Justin.
Unfortunately, despite their best intentions and much like with any other stalking case, the authorities told Daisy there was nothing they could do.
The beloved character was thus left with no choice but to keep a record of Justin’s behaviour, which only seems to be escalating as he’s adamant Daisy and him are in love.
Corrie actress Charlotte Jordan spoke to The Celeb Report and other press about the impact her ordeal will have on her mental health.
The usually bold and assertive Daisy will slowly maker herself smaller and smaller as she grows drained from “looking over her shoulder constantly.”
“She doesn’t know how far that delusion is going to go or what’s going to tip him over the edge. It’s a really scary situation for her to be in”, Charlotte said.
Face with her declining mental health, Daniel will do his best to support her as “the person she spends most time with.”
Slowly, the damage caused by Justin on Daisy will erode their happy tandem as “tensions get really high.”
“She will start to take it out on Daniel, as much as he tries to support her through it”, Charlotte explained, “tensions get really high and she starts to snap, she gets really fragile.”
Old sophisticated soul Daniel once blamed Daisy for her stalking ordeal due to her growing presence online, which Charlotte is still appalled by.
“It’s just the worst, it’s victim-blaming mentality and it’s so dangerous and damaging”, she said.
While she’s not tarring men with one brush, Charlotte couldn’t help but notice that women are, more often than not, given blame when a crime is committed against them.
“For some reason, it’s the woman’s responsibility to change her behaviours. And that’s just so wrong.”
“The responsibility should not be on a woman who posts a picture of herself where she feels cute. It should be on educating men on what a healthy relationship is and what consent is.”
“Men should just do better. It’s not the victim’s fault”, she concluded.
