Coronation Street Fans Call for Newcomer to be Axed from Soap

Coronation Street fans are expressing their disappointment with a new character on the long-running soap, demanding that he be removed from the show. The newcomer, Bobby, played by Jack Carroll, has been labeled a "complete flop" by viewers.

A New Character Arrives

In a heartbreaking moment, as Carla said goodbye to Peter Barlow, Bobby arrived on her doorstep. Bobby is the son of Rob Donovan, who is currently in prison.

“Bobby seems to have gone down like a lead balloon. Not only does his introduction feel totally pointless - just like Cassie’s - but it screams of stunt casting,” one viewer commented on social media.

Another viewer expressed frustration, saying, "If Rob had been reintroduced, it might have had some point to it, but this just feels so contrived and unnecessary. It seems like it’s a complete flop so far."

"There needs to be a major clear out for any changes to really take place at Corrie," added another viewer.

Bobby Donovan star Jack Carroll, 25, is no stranger to TV, having participated in Britain’s Got Talent and finishing as the runner-up at the age of 14.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
