Coronation Street fans have slammed a forgotten attack storyline after the character’s ‘permanent scarring’ disappeared
Todd – played by Bruno Langley at the time – was left scarred for life
But during an online discussion about the upcoming storyline, Coronation Street fans were quick to remind each other of a previous attack storyline that they felt wasn’t handled correctly.
Back in 2014, Todd Grimshaw – played by Bruno Langley at the time – was so badly beaten during a street mugging that he was left scarred for life.
At the time, Bruno said: “All the make-up artists have to learn how to do it because it’s going to be there permanently.
“It is cool for a soap. It doesn’t often happen to a character, where something drastic happens and the results aren’t going to be gone in six months. It will always be there.”
However, the role of Todd was recast in 2020 – with Gareth Pierce taking over – and when he made his debut, die hard fans were quick to note his facial scar had disappeared.
During the online discussion, one Corrie fan wrote sarcastically: “I think with how well they covered Todd’s facial scar as a long term storyline, they will really do this justice…..”
Another replied: “Yeah, that was disgraceful. It vanished after a few weeks.
“The more I think of it, the more likely it is that it’ll hit her on the chest rather than the face.”
The fans shared their concerns that if the acid hits Daisy in the face, it would be too much for the show to maintain over time.
One wrote: “I also hope the acid doesn’t go on Daisy’s face. That’s what happened to Ross in ED [Emmerdale] and actor Mike Parr ended up leaving the show.”
Another added: “If the acid hits her face then that’s probably around 4-5hrs in the chair every day for Charlotte putting it on.
“That’s what Michael Parr said he did. Can’t see Charlotte doing that for 5 years not that I think she’ll stay another 5 years anyway. She’s young and ambitious so will want to try other roles.”
Gareth Pierce now plays Todd and there’s no sign of a scar on his face
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
