Coronation Street Fans Spot Blunder as Characters Lose Jobs and Money

Coronation Street fans are pointing out a glaring mistake in the storyline after characters Ryan, Daisy, and Michael all find themselves jobless and facing financial difficulties. In Wednesday's episode of the popular ITV soap, money woes hit all three characters.

Ryan and Daisy Scramble for £1000

In the episode, Daisy and Ryan are forced to scramble for £1000 after Lauren threatens to expose the fact that they had slept together to Daisy's fiancé, Daniel. Ryan expresses his concern to Daisy, saying, "She's serious, and I haven't got it, my money's almost gone." Daisy had recently lost her job as a barmaid at the Rovers after its closure and was on a trial shift at the Bistro.

Heart-to-Heart Leads Ryan to Close Online Fan Account

Ryan had been earning well with his online fan account but decides to close it down after a heartfelt conversation with Daisy about how the acid attack still affects him. As they discuss their financial situation at the Bistro, Daisy reveals she has "not a lot, maybe like £400," while Ryan says he has around £300 in the bank.

Michael Sacked from Underworld

Meanwhile, Michael is sacked from Underworld after inadvertently helping Stephen wipe the company's bank account. Distraught, Michael asks his father, Ed, for the return of the investment money he had given him so he can make it through the month.

Viewers Notice Characters' Sudden Financial Struggles

Some viewers of Coronation Street took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their confusion about the characters' sudden financial difficulties. One viewer wrote, "They all live very close to the bone, don't they? Ryan is immediately skint, Daisy has £400, and Michael is skint by the end of the month." Another added, "Do people instantly lose all of their money on the day they lose their jobs? That's Ryan and Michael. Both had a ton in the bank yesterday."

Another viewer commented, "Oh, he's quit posing naked. Now he has no money and is skint immediately. Wasn't making that much then." A fourth viewer observed, "A lot of folks on the street seem to have money troubles at the moment, but none of it is because of the cost of living crisis, clearly, as they're all eating out or treating themselves to the Bistro, Speed Dhal, and even Roy's Cafe."

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
