But her return ends in tears for her son Todd

ITV viewers will remember that the outspoken Underworld machinist was invited to spend a month in Thailand with her son Jason.

Eileen left Weatherfield in late 2022, paving the way for actress Sue Cleaver to take part in the latest series of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

The 59-year-old soap star temporarily left the show to head off to Australia for the twenty-second edition of the program and came ninth.

Sue has been a regular Corrie face since taking on the role of Eileen for the first time in 2000, meaning she left a void at No.11 during her month-long absence.

Fortunately, she’s finally making her way back to the cobbles in scenes airing this week.

Coming up, and as spoilers have teased, Eileen returns from her trip and Mary Taylor, George Shuttleworth, her son Todd and Sean Tully welcome her home.

Eileen presents Todd (Gareth Pierce) with some boxing gloves from Thailand.

She insists he and George give them a go, but it all ends in tears.

George obliges and strikes Todd… accidentally cracking his tooth.

Later on, Sean (Antony Cotton) and his boyfriend Laurence (Robert Shaw Cameron) find Todd nursing the tooth.

This prompts Sean to book him an appointment with Laurence – but how will Todd react?

Todd and Laurence have somewhat of a rocky history.

Could their time together trigger another disagreement between them?

Todd and Laurence both betrayed Sean Tully when they kissed.

Todd was adamant the flirting was mutual while Laurence denied his version of events.

The dentist had attempted to be nice to Todd and was determined to clear up any bad vibes after assuming the undertaker didn’t like him.

Laurence spoke about the kiss to Sean straight away, leading to the latter humiliating Todd publicly at the market.

Todd was then curious to find out everything he could about Laurence, believing him to be responsible for his wife’s death.

While some soap fans may have encouraged him, others couldn’t help but notice Todd was back to his old tricks after trying to split up Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew.

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
