A Coronation Street legend has passed away at the age of 87, the soap has confirmed. Geoffrey Hinsliff, best known for his role as Don Brennan on the cobbles from 1987 to 1997, sadly died this week.

Remembering Don Brennan's iconic storyline

During his time on the beloved soap, Geoffrey's character Don Brennan was involved in gripping storylines including kidnap and attempted murder, solidifying his place as one of the most memorable villains on the show. He famously bought MVB motors from Mike Baldwin but their relationship soured when the garage faced financial difficulties. Don's actions led to a dramatic sequence where he kidnapped Mike's wife Alma and later attempted to run Mike over, resulting in a fatal car crash.

Tributes pour in for the beloved actor

Geoffrey's co-star Helen Worth, who portrays Gail Platt on the show, paid tribute to him by saying, "Geoff was a lovely, quiet man who will be sadly missed by us all. His partnership with Lynne Perry was something rather special and they gave the viewers huge pleasure for many years." The cause of Geoffrey's death has not been disclosed yet.
