Coronation Street's Beverley Callard Joins BBC Comedy Mandy

Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has joined a huge BBC comedy after it bagged a third series. She has been revealed as one of the stars appearing in the forthcoming series of Mandy, which is filming now.

Meet Mandy Carter, Played by Diane Morgan

The series follows the life and times of Mandy Carter, played by show creator Diane Morgan, of Motherland, After Life, and Philomena Cunk fame. Her new alter ego Mandy is a woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Returning Characters and New Additions

Mandy's friend and mentor Lola, played by Michelle Greenidge, returns for the third series to help Mandy in her quest for the ultimate aspirational lifestyle through a number of poorly paid jobs. Beverley's character has been kept under wraps but she would be a good fit for playing Mandy's mum.

Beverley Callard's Life After Coronation Street

The Liz McDonald actress, 66, quit Coronation Street in 2019. She has since been spending time renovating a boat and taking part in reality shows like I'm A Celebrity. It was also revealed earlier this year that she started a new side hustle teaching fitness.

Teaching Fitness for a Good Cause

The actress holds fitness classes for free and instead asks local women to donate £5 a session to charity. Beverley is well known for being a fitness fanatic and previously released workout videos and even taught classes at the height of her fame.

Back to Doing What She Loves

Now, Beverley is back to doing what she loves after moving to Norfolk with her husband. She expressed her excitement, saying, "I just wanted real women."
