AUDREY Roberts has been struggling with an alcohol addiction in recent months.
But next week in Coronation Street, her addiction puts her in horrible danger.
Weatherfield stalwart Audrey (portrayed by Sue Nicholls) has been a cause for concern for her family and friends, and her frenemy Rita Tanner has even tried to shake some sense into her over her drinking habit.
Since then, however, the hairdresser has taken a backseat from all the drama.
Yet Audrey is due for a nasty wake-up call in upcoming scenes of the ITV soap and her life will hang in the balance.
Coming up, Shona agrees to keep an eye on Audrey, on condition her daughter Gail (Helen Worth) disposes of the Thai brass elephant.

But with Audrey gone, Gail tracks her down to the Rovers where she tries to wrestle a bottle of red wine from her hand.
Later on, long-term rivals Audrey and Rita (Barbara Knox) finally bury the hatchet and raise a toast to growing old disgracefully.
It’s clear that Audrey’s addiction takes up most of her time as she is then found by Rita in the Rovers as she enjoys her first drink of the day.
Despite their past difference, Rita is willing to help Audrey by pointing out that she owns the barber’s.
Rita proceeds to suggest that it’s time Audrey went back to work.
David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) despairs as his grandmother Audrey announces she’s returning to work, before cracking open the wine and flirting with Ryan who’s in for a cut.
When he asserts she should go home, Audrey agrees but when she heads for her coat, she trips over the Thai elephant, sending her sprawling across the floor.
