CORONATION Street’s Toyah Battersby and Imran Habeeb are forced to put their relationship issues to one side and decide which of their foster children to keep in a harrowing moral dilemma.
The couple, who are on rocky ground themselves, are embroiled in the Sophie’s Choice style scenario when convicted killer Kelly Neelan is released from prison.
The troubled teen – who is played by actress Millie Gibson in the ITV soap – was serving a prison sentence for killing Seb Franklin in a brutal attack.
Yet following an appeal hearing, the judge states she is releasing Kelly with immediate effect.
Spoilers for upcoming episodes of Coronation Street see Imran and Toyah “appalled” as they are told by a social worker they may need to choose between looking after Elsie or Kelly.
As Kelly arrives back on the Corrie cobbles, Toyah tells her she and Imran are no longer together after he cheated on her.
Kelly urges Toyah to give Imran – who is re-kindling his closeness with his ex but did the dirty with someone else – another go.
In another selfless act, Kelly tells Toyah she wants to leave after her foster parent tells her she may have to make a choice between herself and Elsie as to who remains in the family home.
Despite bravely leaving, Kelly is met with more drama at her supported living accommodation when she finds someone has sprayed the word ‘murderer’ on the wall.
Meanwhile, as requested by Kelly, Toyah told Imran she wanted to give things another try.

Back at the shelter, Kelly scrubs away the graffiti as Nina plays on her mind.
Later on she asks after Seb’s partner and dev tells her she is devastated after losing a ring her now-deceased partner gave her.
Kelly tries to show Nina how sorry she is about the situation by heading to York and buying a similar ring, but Nina automatically smells a rat.
She throws the band back at Kelly who is left devastated.
Nina’s uncle Ray Cropper – ever the font of wisdom – urges her to cut Kelly some slack, as he believes the teen is truly sorry.
KELLY’S ARRIVAL
Toyah and Imran began fostering Kelly in March after a drugs overdose.
Kelly suffered an overdose after Simon Barlow – who had been drawn into drug dealing – supplied her with some pills.
Toyah and Imran’s application process to become foster parents last year was complicated by Toyah’s half-sister Leanne’s emotional storyline involving her youngest son Oliver, who eventually passed away from an incurable form of mitochondrial disease.
With Oliver in hospital, Toyah and Imran felt guilty for beginning their fostering journey.
The pair met another obstacle when Toyah struggled to deal with the consequences of short-term fostering after they were given their first child to look after over the Christmas period.
Toyah was devastated when she had to give the baby boy back.
Meanwhile earlier this month, Toyah was told the pair would be given the chance to foster four-year-old Elsie.
It remains to be seen if she will still have the chance to stay in their care as the drama unfolds.
