But after months of waiting, Peter was finally offered a liver.

In scenes set to air next week, Peter returns home following the transplant, but will he be a changed man?

Corrie viewers know that it’s been a painful journey for Peter and his wife Carla Connor, which began when she admitted to sleeping with Peter’s nephew Adam.

Peter turned to booze to drown his sorrows, and refused all potential ways to save his life when he was told he was dying of liver failure.

Peter’s lowest point saw him lash out at his dad Ken when he tried to stop him from drinking himself to death.

Fans were shocked when Peter knocked the pensioner to the ground.

But Peter eventually saw the light and decided to fight for his life and tie the knot with Carla.

Carla was left fuming in recent scenes when Adam pulled out of donating his liver to Peter after Sarah begged him to reconsider.

Sarah then told Carla that Peter’s transplant would turn out to be a waste.

Will Peter prove her and Adam wrong?
