TROUBLEMAKER Todd Grimshaw is left for dead in a hit and run horror on the Cobbles.
In scenes set to air on the soap next week, Todd (played by Gareth Pierce) is left bruised and battered in hospital.
But the mystery of the fleeing car driver seems to tie in with a massive dent on David Platt’s car.
Everything soon starts to unravel as Shona Platt lets herself into No.8 in her dressing gown and confesses to David she went to move his car but in the process she hit something, panicked and drove off.
While shocked at the revelation, David cannot find any evidence at the scene of the accident, so they shrug it off and ask Abi to mend the dent in the car.
Meanwhile Eileen Grimshas announces to Billy Mayhew that Todd has been the victim of a hit and run and is in hospital.
Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt in the ITV soap, explained the accident is the culmination of the pair’s parking feud, with Todd winding Shona up by parking his hearse outside No. 8.
She explained: “Shona is fuming because even though she isn’t supposed to be driving cars at the moment due to her brain injury she is angry because David is struggling to park his car outside their house.
“There is no filter there, she can’t rationalise her behaviour, Shona has always gone from 1-100 in no time but old Shona would have been able to put certain measures in place to stop herself acting irrationally. New Shona doesn’t have that ability any more.”
And even though she shouldn’t be driving Shona decides to take David’s car keys and move the car when she sees the hearse has moved early in the morning.
But dressed in her PJs and slippers, Julia details: “She is in a hurry and the slipper got caught under the clutch, it was all very dramatic and she
hit something and she is not sure what it is and she runs into the house.
“He [David] tries to calm her down and says they should go outside and see if they can work out what she hit. It might be a stray dog or something.
“There is a massive dent in the car but they can’t find anything. There is no evidence of anything being hit, no blood or anything – it puts her mind at ease but she knows she hit something.”
But will Shona and David be found out?
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV
