Coronation Street Star Colson Smith Shares Emotional Weight Loss Journey

Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, known for his role as Craig Tinker, recently shared a personal and emotional weight loss journey that was unfortunately scrapped by bosses despite months of hard work. The 26-year-old actor opened up about his incredible transformation in a TikTok video, revealing how running played a significant role in his health journey.

Striving for Change

At his heaviest, Colson weighed 24 stone and felt unhappy with his appearance. He approached Coronation Street producers with the idea of incorporating a weight loss storyline for his character, Craig Tinker, who would struggle with an eating disorder linked to OCD. However, the onset of COVID-19 put a halt to these plans.

Finding a New Path

Despite the setback, Colson had a turning point during lockdown when he realized it was the perfect opportunity to focus on his health. He decided to take up running as a hobby and committed to a disciplined routine of healthy eating and exercise. This dedication led to an impressive weight loss of 11 stone, dropping from 24 stone to 13 stone.

A Life-Changing Journey

Colson credits running for transforming his life and helping him maintain his weight loss. He even completed his first marathon recently, showcasing his newfound passion for fitness alongside his role on Coronation Street. In addition to his acting career, Colson co-hosts the popular podcast The Sofa Cinema Club with his colleagues Ben Price and Jack P Shepherd.
