But four months after being introduced to viewers, Lydia will be leaving Weatherfield

Soap stars are rushing out of Weatherfield with Alexandra Mardell and Charlie De Melo announcing their exits from the long-running drama.

However, a third character will soon be turning their back on the Street as actress Rebecca Ryan has finished filming her last scenes, according to her Adam Barlow co-star Sam Robertson.

Making her first Corrie appearance in December, 2021, Rebecca took on the role of Underworld PA Lydia Chambers – who also happened to be Adam Barlow’s former girlfriend.

While the solicitor assures they only briefly dated while at university, Lydia insists that a lot more happened between them during their relationship.

Just as it was teased by producer Iain MacLeod, Lydia has since been troublesome for Adam.

The controversial storyline was first aired ahead of Valentine’s Day and the drama has only picked up a pace ever since.

After a brief romance with Daniel Osbourne, Lydia caused considerable damage to Adam’s marriage with Sarah Platt by admitting to a fake affair and even his professional life.

Viewers are still seeing on-screen what Lydia is capable of as she has also pinned a crime on her former boyfriend, and many fans are fuming to see Sarah believe her co-worker so easily over her husband.

Actor Sam Robertson has also previously hinted the storyline took a lot out of him, admitting “it’s been really tough” to be at odds with his on-screen wife, Tina O’Brien.

Meanwhile, the intense scenes have also taken a toll on Rebecca as she recently acknowledged she was “not well liked.”

“I get a lot of hate for the character with people saying how much they dislike her and that she’s awful and ruining Sarah’s life”, Rebecca told OK! Magazine.

“But it’s part of all the fun”, she added, “it’s great that people are so invested in the storyline and getting so into it, and I’ve had lovely messages from people saying they’re enjoying it.”

Lydia’s motives for making Adam’s life a nightmare have yet to be revealed as the storyline continues to be aired on ITV.

Corrie fans have speculated that comeuppance could be near for Lydia as Carla Connor begins to question her PA.

Will Lydia’s schemes finally come to light?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
