Who will buy the Rovers Return in Corrie?
Debbie Webster
Corrie fans are convinced Debbie will take over the reigns of the pub after Jenny and Johnny’s departure.
Viewers know that Debbie didn’t get off on the right foot following her arrival on the cobbles at the end of last year as she was revealed to be property developer Ray Crosby’s secret business partner.
Corrie residents were aghast to discover the duo’s plans to demolish the cobbles and build a flat block.
But after seeing Ray’s true colours, Debbie turned against him and forced him to give her control of his businesses.
Will Debbie take over the Rovers too?
One fan tweeted: “Debbie Webster has to become the next Rovers landlady. Come on, #Corrie, make it happen.”
Another said: “Who would you like to see take over if Jenny does have to go? I think this screams Debbie Webster. Could see Sue Devaney in charge behind that bar…”
Sharon Bentley
Next up is Rita Tanner’s former foster daughter Sharon Bentley, who returned to the cobbles earlier this year.
Fans think Sharon, who was revealed to be the aunt of evil drug dealer Harvey following her return, will set her sights on the pub.
Sharon is currently heavily involved in Harvey’s twisted scheme to track down Simon and Leanne, and make them pay for reporting him to the police.
One fan tweeted: “I can see Sharon acquiring the Rovers from Jenny! You heard it here first! She’d make a wicked landlady! Watch out Jenny!”
Another said: “Would love to see Sharon own the rovers #corrie.”
Michelle Connor
Some fans have speculated that former Rovers landlady Michelle Connor will return to the cobbles and take over the pub.
Following the tragic death of her ex-fiance Robert Preston in 2019, Michelle made the decision to sell the Bistro and leave the cobbles.
But speaking to TV Times Magazine last month, Michelle actress Kym Marsh teased a potential return for her character one day.
“They did leave the door open and I would like to think that I would go back at some point. When, who knows? But one day definitely,” she teased.
Could Jenny’s departure from the pub pave the way for Michelle’s return?

Rita Tanner
Other fans are convinced it’s Rita Tanner’s time to shine.
One viewer tweeted: “We’ve waited far too long for Rita to take over the Rover’s Return. Please let her become the new landlady!”
Might Rita and Sharon team up to take over the reigns of the pub?
If so, how will Rita’s other former foster daughter Jenny react?
What has Corrie boss Ian MacLeod said about the pub sale?
New photos show The Rovers with a Purplebricks ‘for sale’ sign out the front in the latest product placement partnership for the soap.
Corrie boss Iain MacLeod said: “The upcoming story around the sale of the Rovers Return stems from something exciting that happens between Jenny and Johnny – but it also led to an exciting opportunity to team up with Purplebricks to sell the nation’s most iconic pub.
“The presence of a real Purplebricks sign outside adds a little bit of extra realism to a really relatable story between two of our best-loved characters.”
Purplebricks’ Ben Carter said: “We are delighted to work with Coronation Street to ‘sell’ a true British television icon like the Rovers Return.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Purplebricks brand to be seen by millions of TV viewers and we look forward to getting it ‘sold’ like we do for thousands of homes across the country every year.”
ITV’s Mark Trinder said of Corrie, which already has tie-ups with Co Op and Costa: “We’ve successfully integrated product placements into our programmes for a number of years, and Coronation Street has been the most prominent example of this, bringing recognisable brands to viewers.
“This new partnership with Purplebricks gives us an opportunity to do something we’ve not done before with the agreement tying into one of our major storylines, working closely with the editorial and production teams.”
