He was left in a coma as he fought for his life in hospital.

Adam had been sure his attacker was his uncle Peter because he smelled whiskey before the attack.

And he made it clear he was determined to shop Peter to the police.

However, he had second thoughts when Daniel Osbourne told him how Peter was seriously ill in hospital with potential liver failure.

Daniel told him: “He’s ill. He’s in hospital – he’s got internal bleeding because of his drinking.

“They think he’s got liver failure. He made me promise not to tell anyone but if you’re going to tell them you think it was him then it would push him to drink.

“He could die – I mean he would die.”

As the police detective arrived to question Adam, he made his decision.

But fans were in shock after he didn’t tell them it was his uncle Peter.

Instead he told the police: “Let’s cut to the chase shall well? And talk about who tried to kill me. I think it was Gary Windass.”

Fans were in shock.

One wrote: “Adam just threw GARY UNDER THE BUS!!!”

A second said: “Wow, so Adam accused Gary!”

Another said: “Oh come on! A solicitor should know better than to lie to the police. Just say you don’t know!”
