CORONATION Street star Colson Smith has signed up to new ITV TV show The Games where he will take on a series of Olympic sports challenges.
The actor, who has played Craig Tinker on the soap for a decade, agreed to take on the challenge to push himself following his ten stone weight loss.
Colson, 23, will be appearing on the new show alongside Mark Wright.
A source said: “Colson has worked so hard to get fit so when he was approached by The Games he couldn’t turn them down.
“He used running to lose ten stone in weight and now loves keeping fit.
“By taking part in The Games Colson will be able to push himself to the limit and try out different challenges.”
Colson is the latest big name signing for The Games after The Celeb Report revealed how Heart FM DJ Mark had agreed to take part.
The series will show celebrities taking part in a series of Olympic sports including the discus and sprinting.
The show, which was previously called The Real 2022 Games, has been repeatedly pushed back because of the pandemic.
It was originally supposed to air in the same year as the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Stars including Christine McGuinness have also been in advanced talks to take part.
The Games will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff when it finally hits screens later this year.
Alex Scott is signed up as a trackside reporter while professional football player and presenter Chris Kamara is a commentator.
Colson decided to overhaul his fitness regime during the first lockdown and told The Celeb Report at the time he was worried about continuity because of how much his body had changed.
He said: “We are in direct continuity, but I’ve almost lost about ten stone since we left work.
“I might be wearing a wig and a fat suit when we go back.”
