Coronation Street’s George Shuttleworth hiding dark secret as Eileen and Sean break into his house

AMID all the drama in the cobbles, George Shuttleworth has remained more of a background character.

But a new Coronation Street storyline could involve him as Eileen and Sean find a deep, dark secret in his home.

A discovery leaves Eileen stunned

No Weatherfield residents has ever been able to prove appearances can be trusted.

Undertaker George (portrayed by Tony Maudsley) is no exception as upcoming scenes could show he has been keeping something under wraps.

In recent picture previews, George’s partner Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and her friend Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) are shown snooping around his home.

But by doing so, the pair stumble across a document and Eileen is clearly distressed by what she finds.

Other pictures show the friends getting out of a taxi, while their destination and the contents of the document remain unknown.

Could there be trouble brewing?

George made his first appearance in Weatherfield in September, 2020, taking on Shuttleworth’s Independent Funeral Services and opening a new funeral parlour in Victoria Street.

The undertaker has been known for his rocky romance with hopeless romantic Eileen, as her son Todd (Gareth Pierce) works for him.

Fans have recently noticed George hasn’t been as present in the ITV programme, although his relationship with Eileen is thought to be going well.

But both Todd and George have reunited after their quiet spell, as teased by actor Gareth with two selfies shared on Instagram and much to the delight of many Corrie fans.

The actors have posed for the snaps outside of George’s funeral parlour, looking sombre in a first picture before letting loose or a second shot.

“We’re actually THRILLED to be reunited”, Gareth commented.

While a new storyline focusing on George could well be in the works, another exit plot is also part of writers’ priorities.

Actor Charlie De Melo will be leaving Coronation Street after five years in the role of solicitor Imran Habeeb.

His character is currently involved in a storyline alongside Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).

His exit will follow Alexandra Mardell’s aka Emma Brooker as she has also made the decision to throw in the towel.

Will George be given the same fate?
