Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine reveals how she dropped three dress sizes telling fans ‘it’s not rocket science’

CORONATION Street actress Jennie McAlpine has credited “common sense” for her dramatic body transformation.

Jennie, who plays Fiz Stape in the ITV1 soap, has slimmed down by three dress sizes since first landing the role in 2001.

But opening up on how she has done it, the 37-year-old actress has insisted it wasn’t “rocket science”.

Speaking to OK!, Jennie has said she uses “common sense” when it comes to food and exercise.

“I don’t go in for all the diet plans and worrying yourself silly over how much you weigh,” she said.

“If you eat more of the good stuff and take more exercise then you’ll lose weight.”

Jennie went on to say that, although she acknowledges there is a pressure in showbiz to stay in shape, she doesn’t bow to it.

“It’s really not worth beating yourself up over it,” she added.

Jennie was just 17 when she joined the cast of Coronation Street.

She’d actually had her first taste of soap stardom with a role in rival soap Emmerdale, but cemented herself on the small screen when she bagged the role of Fiz in Corrie.

Away from the cameras, Jennie married restauranteur Chris Farr in 2017.

The pair had been in a relationship since 2005 after being introduced by Jennie’s Corrie co-star Antony Cotton, who played Sean Tully.

Jennie and restaurant manager Chris are now parents to daughter Hilda and son Albert.

The couple have also pooled their passion for food into a cafe called Annie’s.

In the heart of Manchester town centre, it has a four out of five rating on TripAdvisor and serves British cuisine.
