Coronation Street’s Max Turner devastated at spiking horror after shock mistake, reveals Paddy Bever

ATTENDING Weatherfield’s dance for Valentine’s Day, Amy Barlow was the target of a horrific spiking incident.

While police are looking for the culprit, Coronation Street star Paddy Bever says his character is horrified after realising he made a mistake.

Amy left a nightclub feeling woozy after being spiked

Her father Steve is convinced Jacob is the culprit

Determined to get a taste of adulthood following her 18th birthday, Amy (played by Elle Mulvaney) was planning to spend the evening at a nightclub during Valentine’s Day alongside her friends and new criminal boyfriend Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan).

But while there, and as ITV viewers know all too well, the teen was spiked with GHB.

Her father Steve is convinced Jacob is responsible but the authorities are still looking to find who really drugged Amy.

Meanwhile, Max Turner uncovers a disturbing truth when looking at his footage of the Valentine’s dance – which Amy attended before going to the nightclub.

Max is left mortified by what he has seen: he could go down for spiking Amy’s drink after a terrible mistake.

While he did drug one of the drinks at the Valentine’s dance, he never actually intended to drug Amy.

His target was actually Weatherfield teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), with whom he has been butting heads for several weeks.

“He’s terrified, as his anger towards Daniel starts to fade away and he starts to accept what he’s done, he realises how other people are going to see this”, actor Paddy Bever said of his troubled character.

“Not even David is going to see this from his perspective.”

Max has had it in for Daniel and first targeted him with a smear campaign during which he claimed he had an inappropriate relationship with fellow student Summer Spellman.

More recently, Daniel pushed Max down the stairs after a heated argument, reminding Corrie fans that bad habits sometimes die hard.

Evidently, Max has been wanting revenge ever since.

“We often as humans judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intentions and I think that’s what Max does”, Paddy said.

“But now he’s looking past his intentions and he fears people are going to see what he’s done and he knows it will be unforgivable for so many people, it’s pure panic.”

Paddy has said that Max is going “into survival mode” as the troublemaker is shaken by his own deed.

“He almost goes into survival mode where he turns into a little child again and this bravado and cockiness just completely leaves him because he’s in such a state of fear.”

But will his secret be uncovered?

Could he get into trouble for spiking Amy’s drink?
