Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson starts health kick after boozy nights out and jokes about needing a sports bra

CORONATION Street’s Simon Gregson has started his health kick and is back in the gym after joking he “needs a sports bra”.

The actor has been enjoying his life out on the town recently – and was spotted getting topless during a boozy fight earlier this month.

The star was seen on a number of boozy nights out earlier this month

Simon, 47, rose to fame as Steve McDonald in the ITV soap and was runner-up on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Since coming out of the Castle, the star looks to have relaxed his food and fitness regime – as he was spotted last month out boozing.

The fun-loving soap star aged at bouncers who tried to boot him out of the club after dancing topless as he appeared worse for wear.

With his belly overhanging his jeans, he could be heard shouting “f**k you” as he was forcibly removed from Albert’s Schloss in Manchester.

Simon looks to have turned things after he was “quizzed by cops” following the topless rant, and has started a new healthy regime.

Taking to Instagram, he posed outside a David Lloyd Clubs gym, he joked it was time to get exercising before he needed “a sports bra”.

“Back to the gym before I need a sports bra!” he wrote under the snap of him holding a sports bag over his shoulder.

His fans headed to the comments to offer up encouragement, telling Simon it was “good to see him” working out.

It comes after news broke that Simon was off the hook over another boozy fight, with police dropping the investigation.

He was spoken to by cops at a Toby Carvery after a boozy day at Aintree races a week after being ejected from a Manchester bar.

A pal said: “Simon has been told there will be no further action taken by the cops following the ruckus in the Toby Carvery.

“It is naturally a welcome relief for Simon and those around him. Simon knows his antics haven’t looked, or been, great and he made it clear to Corrie it won’t happen again.”

The dad of three, runner-up on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, previously admitted he used to get “dangerously drunk” with friends after starting on Corrie in 1989.

He said: “I’d go through a bottle of Scotch at 4 or 5am after the pub.

“I was spending all my salary going out or on cars. Sometimes I’d be two hours late for work. Other times I’d not be there at all.

“The cocaine use came hand in hand with the alcohol abuse. I started smoking marijuana first. Reality wasn’t too great so this alternative reality with the use of substances was a better place to be.”

In 2007 the star received a drink-drive ban — but in January 2020 he vowed to continue boozing no matter what.

He wrote online: “I’ve now decided after years of drinking and making a fool of myself, plus of course the health implications of such debauchery, I’m gonna carry on.”

Simon has been married to former Hollyoaks actress Emma Gleave, 38, since 2010 and the couple have three sons together.
