Corrie’s Charlotte Jordan reveals secret to Manchester accent after British Soap Awards shock

CORONATION Street star Charlotte Jordan has addressed fans shock when they heard her shed her fake Mancunian accent for her many British Soap Awards speeches.

The glam star, who plays Daisy Midgeley on the show, was one of this year’s Soap Awards ceremony’s most decorated performers thanks to her role in the show’s acid attack and stalking storyline.

She opened up to The Celeb Report’s TV Mag about her accent

However, fans were left stunned when Charlotte sounded worlds away from her character of Daisy whilst picking up her gongs.

Charlotte is originally from the village of Chobham in Surrey.

The actress has since opened up to The Celeb Report’s TV Mag about the secret way she perfected her Northern accent.

Charlotte told TV Mag: “The accent used to take a lot more work.

“I used to pre-record all my scenes and listen to them back on the drive up to get the accent in, but now I hear it so much – I live in Manchester now, so I can pick it up so easily.”

It wasn’t just the accent that Charlotte had to learn to adapt too as she confessed that she used to have a number of rituals in order to embrace the character of Daisy.

The actress added: “I’ve been playing her for such a long time now, which is one of the beauties of doing a long-running drama, you get the time to sit in a character.

“It’s a lot easier from me to switch in and out now, but when I first started, I did Daisy playlists, I wore a Daisy perfume to try to find
who that person is.”

Laughing, she adds: “But now I just sort of turn up and do it!”

Despite making it big on the ITV soap opera, Charlotte admitted that as much as she enjoys life up North, she always misses her ‘true’ home life and being so close to London.

She said: “I miss my friends, I miss my family, I even miss my local coffee shop.

“I’ve got a new local coffee shop now, but it’s not quite the same.

“London will always hold a special place in my heart.

“But, you know, you’ve got to go where the work is at the end of the day.”

She also insisted that there were many differences between her life and that of influencer Daisy as she confessed she rarely gets gifted products since being on TV and even admitted she does not get “paid enough” to afford anything other than high-street clothes.

Charlotte exclaimed: “I don’t get paid enough to be a designer girl! Honestly, it’s not this thing that all of a sudden you get on a TV show and you’re given the world – that’s not a thing!

“I don’t mind that either, I’m finally employed for a bit so I don’t mind paying for stuff.”
