CORONATION Street villain Stephen Reid may be the least likely heartthrob on the cobbles but fans have been left mesmerised by the character’s ‘raw sex appeal’.
Serial killer Stephen has been a menace in Weatherfield over the past 18 months and has shown no sign of slowing down.
Stephen Reid has been labelled a heartthrob by fans
Fans love his ‘dreamy eyes’
His ‘sex appeal’ has left them unable to concentrate
The character – played by actor Todd Boyce – has so far claimed the lives of three characters during his reign of terror on the ITV soap.
He first bumped off Rovers landlady Jenny Bradley’s boyfriend Leo Thompkins after he appeared to rumble Stephen’s financial woes.
During a fracas at Underworld, Stephen sent Leo flying from a balcony and into a wheelie bin below.
The dastardly businessman then disposed of his body but it wasn’t long until he was back to his old tricks.
He later killed Leo’s father Teddy as well as former business associate Rufus Donohue.
Not only this, he fancied himself as a drug lord when he began to continually spike Carla Connor, played by Alison King, with LSD in her drinks as well as planning to murder his ‘so-called fiance’ Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox).
But some fans have been left enticed by Stephen’s sex appeal and have been that left flustered fantasising over the character that they have been unable to concentrate.
Sparking debate online, one lovestruck fan said of the unlikely eye candy: “Has there ever been a soap character with the raw sex appeal of Stephen, I can’t concentrate when he’s on screen because I get lost in his dreamy eyes”.
Seemingly sharing the same opinion, another fan agreed, adding: “I have to admit Stephen brings a certain panache to his killings. Something not seen very much in serial killers”.
As a third opted to point out: “They do say we prefer a bad boy…”
But others were left totally horrified at the suggestion.
Hitting back at his heartthrob status, one fan replied: “If this isn’t satire, I’m genuinely going to be sick”.
Another referenced Stephen’s LSD storyline to joke: “Someone’s had LSD tea…”
As someone else defiantly said: “”I think he’s one of the creepiest weirdos I’ve seen in years”.
Whatever the opinion, it seems that Stephen could be on the way to FINALLY getting his comeuppance.
Recent photos have seen plenty of filming activity around the canal here Stephen has previously disposed of a body.
Both Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and Gail Platt (Helen Worth) have been snapped on set.
Could they be the ones to expose the killer’s crimes?
Will he soon be caught out
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
