COUNTRYFILE viewers have all voiced the same complaint after Sean Fletcher headed to the coast in the latest episode.
In last Sunday’s instalment of the BBC nature show, presenter Sean Fletcher jetted off away from the countryside and toward the coastal town of Whitby in Yorkshire.
In the episode, Sean, 48, showed off some of Whitby’s notable attractions, including the town’s gothic Abbey, its delicious lemon buns and famed Whitby Jet.
Last weekend also marked a festive occasion in the historic seaside town, which was celebrating 150 years since the publication of Bram Stoker’s gothic novel, Dracula.
The Countryfile presenter even managed to get his hands on a rare first edition of the book, signed by Stoker himself.
However, even though the episode showed off Whitby’s interesting history and culture — as well as beautiful landscapes — some viewers weren’t that impressed with Sean’s trip to the coast.

Countryfile fans took to Twitter to complain that this episode of their favourite agricultural show has nothing to do with the countryside.“#countryfile bereft of anything to do with the countryside,” one viewer observed.
Another shared a similar opinion, saying: “Hmm #countryfile doesn’t seem to be about the countryside tonight.”
The show’s fans took issue with the episode’s seaside location, with one saying: “Hang on, are we watching #countryfile or an episode of Coast?”
“Turned on #countryfile expecting it to be about the countryside, and it’s about ……Whitby!!!” a fourth viewer commented.
Another viewer complained about Sunday’s episode because it didn’t dig into any environmental issues in Whitby.
They said: “Countryfile is usually a programme about rural, agricultural, and environmental issues though, and no mention was made of the shellfish tragedy that is currently affecting our coastal waters.”
However, while some Countryfile fans might not all have been thrilled with Sean’s visit to Whitby, the town’s local residents definitely were.
They were thrilled to see their town taking pride of place in the latest episode of Countryfile.
“Great to watch as it really promoted Whitby and attractions such as Dracula and Botham’s lemon buns,” one local said.
Another resident praised the episode, calling it “interesting, informative and a great promotion of our amazing Whitby Jet!!!”
Countryfile airs Sundays on BBC One at 5:45pm.
