DAN Walker has not long left BBC Breakfast but he could’t resist giving a nod to his former workplace.
The news anchor has just joined rival Channel 5 News and made his debut this week.
Following a seven year run with the BBC, Dan, 45, started his new gig on Monday evening.
The star received praise from fans after leaving a great impression during an interview with the MP for Great Yarmouth and Secretary of State for Norther Ireland, Brandon Lewis.
During the chat, Dan paid tribute to his former role as he stood outside 10 Downing Street ahead of the Prime Minister’s confidence vote.
The host said to Mr Lewis: “It is really good to get you on the programme.”
He then referred to his old job on BBC Breakfast, saying: “In my previous life, I have spoken to you on many occasions when you have been firmly supporting the Prime Minister, what do you see in him that many of your fellow MP’s don’t?”
Mr Lewis responded: “Well, there is a couple of things actually, first of all, the Prime Minister is somebody who does connect with the public when you are out and about with him.”
Those tuning in to Channel 5 News to watch Dan’s first broadcast took to Twitter to praise the TV host.
One viewer wrote: “All the best at #5News. A nice, gentle start.
“Only a Prime Minister is under threat. Apart from that, ho-hum.”
Another said: “Wishing you all the best, Dan starting your new job and new chapter on #5news.”
As another wrote: “#5News with@mrdanwalker great start to it nice and gentle Monday, enjoy and best of luck.”
