Dancing On Ice mystery as Hamish Gaman insisted doctors cleared him to perform with injury just hours before he quit

FANS have been left confused as Hamish Gaman insisted doctors cleared him to perform on Dancing On Ice with his injury just hours before he quit.

The pro, 37, performed with the injury on Sunday after changing the routine at the last minute.

Hamish was forced to pull out due to his finger injury

The dancer was injured in a freak accident off the ice while he was putting on a sock.

Hamish – who was partnered with Faye Brookes – revealed on Monday that a doctor signed him off to compete with a splint.

Quote tweeting the original announcement about his injury, Hamish said: “I’ve been told that I don’t need surgery on my finger. I’ll just be sporting a bling splint for a few weeks.

“I can’t wait to return to @dancingonice with @Faye_Brookes on 28th Feb #DancingOnIce”

Faye will instead dance with Matt Evers

However, ITV confirmed yesterday that the skater will not be performing with Faye next Sunday when the show returns – with Matt Evers taking his place.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition.

“We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal.”

Many fans are still confused about the absence, with some suggesting theories as to why he might be away.

Hamish confirmed he was returning to the show

However, it was later revealed he was going

One person on DigitalSpy’s forums said: “We have seen Fay training before the skates each week and she has been a bit tearful trying to get things right.

“So I’m guessing Hamish would have been quite conscious of last year’s issue with Caprice, and would have struggled trying to push Fay. [sic.]”

Last year, Hamish withdrew from the competition after a major bust up with his partner Caprice.

However, Faye told fans she was “truly heartbroken” that Hamish was forced to withdraw.

Writing on Instagram, she said: “Truly heartbroken with the news that @hamishgaman has had to withdraw from @dancingonice.

Fans had theories for Hamish’s exit from the show

“This guy has been there for me from the very beginning. Taught me everything I know and I hope I did you proud brother… It has been an honour.”

Faye added: “We both can’t thank the viewers at home enough for your constant support and for voting for Team #Faymish.

“Last but not least I have to Thank you Mr Gaman for supporting me no matter what! Here’s to a friendship that will go beyond the ice. Here for you always.”

Fans are also convinced Dancing On Ice is cursed as Hamish is the fifth person to drop out of the show.

Hamish and Faye are fan and bookies favourites to win

Denise Van Outen dropped out due to a fractured shoulder, followed by Rufus Hound who contracted coronavirus.

Billie Faiers suffered from a concussion – and then Joe-Warren Plant contracted coronavirus as well.

Meanwhile professional Yebin Mok was forced to exit after suffering a horrific leg injury.

However, ITV has said that they can return if they test negative in time for the show’s return next week.

Meanwhile, Jason Donovan was forced to skip last weekend’s show due to a back injury, while Rebekah Vardy and Lady Leshurr are also injured.
