Dancing On Ice star admits winner Nile Wilson ‘had an advantage’ after fix row

DANCING On Ice star Sylvain Longchambon has admitted the show’s winner Nile Wilson DID have an advantage after fans labelled the result a fix.

Last night, Olympic gymnast Nile lifted the trophy with his professional skating partner Olivia Smart.

While some fans were thrilled for the 27-year-old sportsman, others felt his routine was too heavily focussed around his gymnastic talents.

Now former contestant Sylvain has waded into the “fix” row, telling Betway: “Being a gymnast, he has a slight advantage because he probably knows better how to hold his body and is probably aware of his body.

“At the end of the day, you get judged on the lines, your technique and performance in gymnastics.

“He knows how to compete and he’s probably good under pressure.

“In that sense, he might have a slight advantage.”

Nile made history as he became the first male star to perform a headbanger during his first of three routines in the final.

During the Pirates of the Caribbean routine, Nile showed off his impressive skills on the ice alongside a number of nods to his day job.

It led some to criticise his ability to be fairly compared to the other finalists, Joey Essex and The Vivienne.

One commented: “Nile is amazing but has a big advantage.”

“Is this a gymnast show or what?”, another asked.

Someone else said: “Okay but is that not an unfair advantage though because he does all those stunts for a living anyway?”

Appearing on This Morning with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield this morning, Nile admitted he agreed about having an advantage.

“I get asked this a lot,” he said.

“Is being a gymnast an advantage? Of course it is.

“The fundamental body awareness that gymnastics gives you, I saw a trick.”

“He could soak it up,” Olivia added.

Phil then defended Dancing On Ice and said: “Every year the sports people centre themselves and have the time to focus. But that’s not dancing. You can act.”
