Dancing on Ice’s Rebekah Vardy thought her partner faked injury before seeing ‘blood everywhere’ and almost passing out

DANCING on Ice star Rebekah Vardy thought her partner Andy Buchanan was faking his horrific skating injury before seeing “blood everywhere” and almost passing out.

The 38-year-old says she felt sick to her stomach after realising she had sliced his face open with her skate.

Rebekah has been partnered with professional skater Andy Buchanan on the show

The injury left him in hospital as he got stitched back up again.

“That was the most horrific experience,” said Rebekah ahead of the show launch this Sunday.

“I actually thought he was messing around to begin with.

“He does like a bit of a joke and to rib me quite a bit.

The celeb admitted the injury was ‘awful’

“We were doing a move and the last thing he said to me was ‘don’t kick me in the face’.

“I said ‘why would you say that, you’re going to jinx us.’

“Then he nearly dropped me and I was like ‘oh s***’ what’s gone on and when I looked at him I saw him holding his face.

She said she accidentally slashed Andy’s face open with her skate in training

“I said ‘stop messing about’ and laughed, then he removed his hand from his face and there was blood everywhere.”

I hate the sight of blood. Five kids and I can’t deal with blood. I nearly passed out.

“I felt horrific, but he was so sympathetic. He was more worried about me than himself.

“He kept saying ‘it wasn’t your fault’, but even though he says that you know it was totally your fault. If you’d done it right it would never have happened.

“But we’ve been doing this for a few months not years, so accidents are going to happen.”

Just hours later, Rebekah and Andy had to perform their whole routine for the first time in front of the coaches.

“I was petrified,” admits footballer Jamie Vardy’s wife.

I felt so sick I didn’t even think I would be able to do it. “You have to just get straight back out there and straight back on it otherwise fear will overcome everything you’ve achieved so far.”

Thankfully the pair were able to return to the rink – and despite Andy’s new facial scar, there are no hard feelings.

She added: “We have such a good laugh in training. We don’t argue. We don’t call each other names, we’re just really good friends.

“When you have a friendship like that you trust what they’re trying to get us to do, even if it’s bonkers.”
