IT took three tries for Dancing On Ice’s Sally Dynevor to get a gig on Coronation Street.
The beloved actress auditioned for two different roles before landing the role of Sally Metcalfe in 1986.
The Coronation Street legend, 58, first tried out for the roles of the daughter of milkman Harry Clayton and girlfriend of Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
She apparently wasn’t ‘posh’ enough to play Kevin’s girlfriend, although the character did play a part in her Corrie debut.
Sally was first seen on the ITV soap when Kevin drove through a puddle, splashing the then 23-year-old actress.
“Right from day one, we got on really well,” Sally told the Mirror of working with Michael Le Vell.
“And we had lots of lovely scenes with Jean Alexander, who played Hilda Ogden. She was a great inspiration when I first started and Sally and Kevin moved in with her at number 13. We had a really good time.”
The pair had actually met years before when they tread the boards at Oldham theatre.
“We worked together at Oldham Theatre Workshop when I was 14 and a half and he was 13,” Sally revealed.
“He was the cutest little boy you’ve ever seen. He was only little and had the longest and blackest eyelashes.
“We did a football play called Zigger Zagger and had a great time. I remember he said, ‘Can I come with you to the after-the-play party?’ And I said, ‘No, you can not! You’re 13, I’m 14 and a half. No way!’
“He was far too young for me”
Sally has won a legion of new fans thanks to her enchanting routines with Dancing on Ice veteran, Matt Evers.
The actress crashed onto the ice in a horror smash during rehearsals this week.
Sally looked in agony as she lay flat out on the ice after taking a tumble with Matt.
The duo have been working around the clock on this Sunday’s routine.
Matt posted a picture of their fall on his Instastories.
Sally said: “Please God this doesn’t happen on Sunday.”
It comes as fans were convinced Sally will attempt the death-defying headbanger stunt this week after spotting a ‘clue’ in a rehearsal video.
