Danny Dyer reveals the damning reason he left EastEnders and takes aim at former co-stars

Danny Dyer, the actor known for playing Mick Carter on EastEnders, has finally opened up about his departure from the long-running soap opera. In a recent interview, Dyer revealed that he left the show because he felt that the standards had dropped during the later part of his time on the series. He expressed his frustrations, saying, "The first few years we f***ing smashed it. It was powerful s**t. The viewer listened to us more than these f***ing c* politicians." Dyer also took a swipe at some of his former co-stars, calling them "c***s" and accusing them of being selfish and not being team players.

Dyer tells all

Dyer didn't hold back during the fan Q&A event in London, where he didn't hesitate to speak his mind. According to him, the decline in quality towards the end of his time on EastEnders was a shame, but he had simply had enough. He also expressed his disappointment with certain cast members, including Steve McFadden, who played Phil Mitchell on the show. Dyer implied that McFadden and others were more interested in themselves than in their fellow actors. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and looking after each other.

Fame and its consequences

Before joining EastEnders in 2013, Dyer was known for his roles in films like Human Traffic and The Football Factory, where he embraced a hedonistic lifestyle. He admitted that fame didn't suit him and that being in the spotlight took a toll on his well-being. Dyer said, "Being famous does f*** your nut up. You can lose the plot for many years. You’ve got to remember who you are." He now prefers a quieter life.
