DEATH In Paradise stars were left ‘swearing and throwing items across set’ after brutal series 10 filming ‘drove them nuts’.
The hit BBC drama returns later this month with Ralf Little back in the Caribbean as DI Neville Parker.
Ahead of its return, Ralf reunited with his three predecessors – Ben Miller, Kris Marshall and Ardal O’Hanlon – to talk about the difficulties of filming the show in a tropical climate.
Ben – who was the show’s first lead detective Richard Poole – believes he had it worst as he had to wear a full suit for his character.
He told The Celeb Reportday Times jokingly: “I was really great at the heat. It’s a thing of legend how well I coped.
“Stories of me shouting obscenities at the top of my voice, running into the sea in the middle of a scene, calling everybody every name I could think of under the sun from the water, that’s completely untrue.”
He added: “Everyone was very kind not to mention it, and afterwards, as well, I like the way what goes on Paradise stays on Paradise.”
Kris, who took over from Ben as Humphrey Goodman, said: “The worst place was always the police station.
“They would have 10K lights boiling the place. I went nuts. I mean, I started throwing things.”
Ralf – who took over from Ardal in season nine – said: “It’s a surprisingly physically demanding job.
“You think you’re going to get a really early night and, at first, that’s ten o’clock and then, by the end of it, you’re going to bed at half-seven and you’re still tired.”
Ardal replied with a laugh: “Well, you’re looking incredibly well, Ralf. By this time in the series I was looking like John Hurt.”
Death in Paradise returns on Thursday, January 7 at 9pm on BBC One.
