DEATH IN Paradise’s DI Neville Parker starts season 10 with his trousers around his ankles – publicly displaying his painful “rash.”
Ralf Little’s character returns to the BBC One drama for the new instalment, yet doesn’t make the best first impression on returning character DS Florence Cassell, played by Josephine Jobert.
The broadcaster confirmed the sun-soaked detective series will begin on Thursday, with a teaser clip showing DI Parker’s painful medical condition.
He calls a person he believes to be his doctor into his home, looking quite the patient with a purple towel wrapped around his forehead.
The female visitor – who viewers know to be DS Cassell – exclaims: “Oh, I heard you needed help so I came over as fast as I could.”
He replies: “Thank you,” before pulling down his trousers to continue: “I’ve been drinking loads of iced water but I can’t seem to get this temperature down. There’s this rash…”
Attempting to put a stop to any intimate reveal, Florence squeals: “Woah, what are you doing?”
It is only then Ralf Little’s character realises there may be some wires crossed, as he quizzes: “Oh did the doctor not send you?”
After she introduces herself, red faced, he added: “DS Cassell? Yes of course you are, jolly good!”
Ralf’s character makes his return to the island of Saint Marie after his debut in season nine, while actress Josephine made her debut on the show in 2015.
A synopsis for the series also reveals a bit more about what fans can expect from the pair’s relationship.
It reads: “Florence thinks she’s ready to get back to work after her fiancé’s death two years ago – but she hasn’t banked on her new boss, Neville.
“As she tries to understand his peculiarities, sparks are bound to fly… Neville soon realises he is existing in the Caribbean, rather than embracing life there.
“With Florence’s help, he determines to seize the day and finds himself starting to reveal some of his secrets – including of a romantic nature. But is Neville really built for a life in the tropics? And is a romantic relationship ever going to be possible for him?”
Meanwhile, Death in Paradise bosses previously confirmed guest stars for series 10 will include Jason Manford, Kelvin Fletcher and Luke Pasqualino.
Fans will also have the chance to see the show’s first ever detective, Richard Poole, return for a surprise cameo.
Richard – played by Ben Miller – was killed off at the beginning of series three after being stabbed in the chest with an ice pick.
Death in Paradise series 10 returns on Thursday, January 7 at 9pm on BBC One.
