Denise Welch confirms husband stepped in as body double for Hollyoaks’ toyboy lover sex scenes

DENISE Welch’s husband had to step in as a body double for her Hollyoaks toyboy lover sex scenes.

Back in October it was revealed that the 62-year-old actress landed herself a role in the popular Channel 4 soap as Maxine Minniver’s mum Trish.

Denise Welch’s husband Lincoln Townley has been playing Tom Benedict Knight’s body double in his wife’s sex scenes

The Loose Women presenter is due to arrive in the village very soon alongside her hunky boyfriend Brad King.

Denise was over the moon when she found out that Tom Benedict Knight was playing the role of her on-screen lover, previously describing him as “easy on the eye”.

But to her disappointment the star hasn’t been able to get up close and personal with him due to Covid-19, meaning that her real-life husband Lincoln Townley, 48, has had to step as a double when they’re getting down and dirty.

Speaking out about the restrictions, Denise recently said: “Along comes Brad who is quite gorgeous, and because we are doing Covid filming, we’re not allowed to have any physical contact.

Denise hasn’t been able to get up close and personal to her co-star Tom Benedict Knight because of the coronavirus

“They come out with the two metre pole, it’s all very strict, we have to adhere to all these guidlines.

“So they have asked Lincoln if he would come in and be a body double so he is never out of the gym!

“He saw a picture of Tom and he’s never been out of the gym, and now the gyms are closed, he is out for a run as we speak!”

But despite her disappointment of not being able to touch Tom in any of their frisky scenes, the soap star is happy that she’s been given the chance to play a character with such a good-looking younger partner.

Tom Benedict Knight will play Denise’s on-screen lover

So much so that she thanked the show during a segment on Loose Women earlier this week.

The star told co-presenters Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson and Janet Street-Porter that she loves the fact the show’s producers don’t care that there is 16 years between them.

She told the panel: “What’s great about Hollyoaks is that although I’m 62 and so is Trish, Tom is 44, and although there is an age gap and that’s quite obvious, they’re not making a big deal of it.

“It’s just about the two of them and what they get up to, the age thing is not really that relevant.

Denise Welch joined the cast of Hollyoaks back in October 2020

“That’s fantastic because we all know that when you watch films and TV shows with women in their 60s, they’re kind of being written as a granny, whereas I’m still after a booty call, so there you go!”

Fans of the show are awaiting for Denise’s highly-anticipated first appearance which is due to air very soon.

Maxine gets the surprise of her life when she finds out that her landlord’s girlfriend is actually her mum, who she hasn’t seen for years.
