Not Enough Spice in the Recipe
Disney's latest film, "Wish," falls short of recreating the success of "Frozen." Despite having similar ingredients—a strong female lead, magical powers, and a beautiful setting—this centenary film lacks the spice and seasoning to make it a memorable dish.
Ashamed of Their Wishes
Set in the magical kingdom of Rosas, "Wish" tells the story of young Asha, who lives in a world where everyone's wishes are collected by King Magnifico. The catch is that once the wishes are stored in a giant bauble, the wishers forget what they wished for. Asha, determined to change this, applies for a job as the king's apprentice and uncovers his true intentions.
A Star-Studded Cast, But Lackluster Performance
While "Wish" features some catchy power ballads and nods to other Disney movies, it fails to capture the humor, heart, and magical moments that made films like "Frozen," "Moana," and "Tangled" so beloved. Despite its star-studded cast, including Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke, the Netflix movie "Leave The World Behind" also disappoints, leaving audiences feeling like they're trudging through treacle.
A Missed Opportunity
In the end, "Wish" falls short of becoming a Disney classic. With not enough spice in the recipe and lacking the magic of its predecessors, this film fails to captivate and leaves audiences wishing for more.
