DOC Martin viewers were left in stitches during the latest edition of the programme thanks to a series of hidden jokes.
The ITV series is currently in its tenth series and viewers have been preparing to say goodbye to the iconic Martin Clunes character as it is expected to be the final season of the show.
Viewers were left laughing at the screens during new Doc Martin
The show featured some interesting name choices
As ever he was on hand to deal with all the latest medical emergencies in the episode as well as juggled the demands of his hectic and chaotic family life.
The current season has also seen a number of fan favourite returns as Ben Miller and Kenneth Cranham were back as the eccentric Stewart James and Terry Glasson respectively.
However many viewers were quick to pick up on an assortment of names that the patients had at the doctor’s practise – and they came with hilarious results.
Names such as Robin Banks and Gene Simmons, the lead singer of rock band Kiss, were just some of the names used for patients in the latest edition of the comedy show.
Fans of the show were quick to take to Twitter to point out the funny name choices.
One said: “Love watching #DocMartin the patient names are hilarious. So far we’ve had Robin Banks tonight.”
Another added: “Robin Banks. I’m dead,”
A third wrote: “Gene Simmons! Robin Banks! Love it.”
While a fellow amused viewer said: “These #DocMartin patient names crack me up.”
It appears the idea of using pun-based names has been a long recurring theme throughout the hit show with the writers aiming to get as many in as they can.
Just last week, one patient was called Pam Demmick.
Over the last ten series other hilarious names have been included such as Kay Kole, Scott Chegg, Anita Bush and Dan Gleballs.
After ten seasons, actor Martin Clunes opened up about how he felt making the decision to bring the series to a close.
He thanked the residents of the show’s filming location as he said: “The people of Cornwall, and Port Isaac in particular, have always been so helpful to us when we are making the series.
“We have some great storylines for the new series, and for the Christmas special, which I hope Doc Martin fans will love.
“I shall miss Cornwall and all the lovely people we have worked with. But it is the right time to say farewell to the Doc, and Portwenn.”
The show is in its final series
Doc Martin airs Wednesdays at 9pm on ITV.
