His appearance came at a hefty price

Back in 2021, Dr. Oz was one of many celebrities picked to host the popular game show in late star Alex Trebek’s absence as reported by The New York Post.

Fans of the show didn’t seem to enjoy having him, but his paycheck for the brief hosting stint was high enough to soothe the burn.

According to US Senate financial disclosure filings, 61-year-old Dr. Oz made a whopping $269,000 for his temporary gig.

His salary was revealed amid his hopes of being named a Republican US Senate candidate in Pennsylvania.

The papers also included some of Dr. Oz’s other earnings as well.

In addition to what he raked in for hosting Jeopardy, the medical doctor made an impressive $2 million for the Dr. Oz show.

He also made $7 million in ownership interest from Oz Media, according to a report from The Wrap.

Dr. Oz racked up an additional $330,000 in royalties from Columbia University for creating a cardiovascular tool called a MitraChip.

Dr. Oz’s Jeopardy hosting gig was considered highly controversial.

ONLINE BACKLASH

Days after the TV presenter hosted the competition series, it was reported that he made fun of contestants on the show.

Jeopardy winner Emily Seaman told The Ringer: “It was just odd.

“I don’t think he likes Jeopardy!”

Emily told the outlet that she overheard Dr. Oz making fun of her behind her back after she incorrectly answered a question.

Prior to the mishap, she had breezed through an entire question category.

She revealed: “I heard him making fun of it to one of the producers.

“Like, ‘I can’t believe they didn’t get this one.'”

Emily hit back: “I was like, ‘Cool, bro – let’s see you do this.'”

She also revealed some of his struggles on the show, revealing that he couldn’t pronounce “Antidisestablishmentarianism” during one particular segment.

The victorious Jeopardy contestant shared: “He just couldn’t get it.”

She added that he had to re-record the segment “seven or eight times.”

Emily said: “And more than that he couldn’t get it, he didn’t know when he hadn’t gotten it, so it kind of seemed like the producers were like, ‘Are you gonna tell him that we’ve done this six times and he didn’t get it?'”

She added: “Everybody in the audience – which, due to COVID-19 restrictions was made up of upcoming Jeopardy! contestants – was like, ‘That’s not how you say that.'”

SHOW’S OVER

Dr. Oz announced in November 2021 that he was planning to run for US Senate.

His long-running daytime TV show, The Dr. Oz Show, ended in January 2021.

The program was replaced by another called The Good Dish.

The one-hour series is hosted by Dr. Oz’s daughter, Daphne Oz, along with Gail Simmons and Jamika Pessoa.

While The Dr. Oz show was on the air, it raked in 10 Emmy awards and aired an impressive 13 seasons.
