Dwayne Johnson leaves fans sobbing with emotional tribute to dad as he shares first look at Young Rock biopic

DWAYNE ‘the Rock’ Johnson pulled at fans’ heartstrings with an emotional tribute to his father tagged alongside the trailer to his new TV series.

The former WWE star revealed the exciting scenes for biopic Young Rock, based on his formative years, in which he will star as well as produce.

The action-packed trailer shows never-before-seen polaroid snaps of the now 47-year-old as well as high-octane movie scenes of him scaling a building, driving a huge truck and swinging from a cable.

A variety of actors are also seen playing American Dwayne at different stages of his life.

Alongside the teaser for the NBC series, the California-born dad of three paid tribute to his own father, wrestler Rocky Johnson.

He wrote: “Ladies and gents, here’s your first look at @nbcyoungrock.

He then revealed the release date for the 11-part series as he added: “Hitting your living rooms FEBRUARY 16th

His words left Instagram users hugely emotional with one writing: “Your dad would have been so proud.”

A second reassured him: “He sees it crystal clear bro,” as a third wrote: “Pops is looking down very proud.”

Another Instagram user posted: “Don’t worry … your dad is already proud of you and has been looking at you from above. You have his blessings man.”

The action will be spread across 11 episodes

Announcing the new show on social media, Dwayne, who is expected to appear in each episode, likened his life to Forrest Gump and promised the series would show “the good, the bad, the ugly”.

In an earlier Instagram post, he wrote: “I’ve seen it all my friends – success, failure, homelessness, evictions, suicide attempts, arrests, hard times, good times, low times, high times.

“And all this s**t happened to me by the time I turned 21. This is a show about my young life. And the lessons I learned. The good, the bad, the ugly but ALWAYS FUNNY.

His single-cam show will also be executive produced by Fresh Off The Boat’s Nahnatchka Khan, who has co-written the pilot with Jeff Chiang.

The Baywatch star was born in Hayward, California, where he lived with his mother Ata Johnson, professional wrestler dad Rocky and siblings Curtis and Wanda Bowles.

Dwayne briefly lived in New Zealand with his mother’s family as a child before he returned to the US.

Young Rock is set to debut in the US on NBC on February 16.
