DWTS host Tyra Banks posts sad, makeup-free selfie amid news she ‘may be FIRED’ after competition show dropped by ABC

TYRA Banks looks sad in a new post as rumors swirl she “may be fired” as host of Dancing With the Stars.

The Celeb Report previously reported the long-running competition series is leaving ABC after 30 seasons to join Disney+, leaving the controversial host behind.

Tyra hosted the competition series the last two seasons

Tyra posted an Instagram pic seemingly showing how she’s coping with the news, appearing somber in a makeup free selfie.

The 48-year-old took an up close shot of her tilting her head slightly to the side looking directly at the camera.

She let her brunette hair with blonde highlights flow down her face while steadying her gaze.

The model explained her expression in her caption, which read: “Smizing for you,” a term meaning smiling with the eyes.

The pic comes just days after her fate on the celebrity dance competition was decided given its move from broadcast TV to a streaming platform.

“There is no official decision on who will be hosting next season but it doesn’t look like Tyra will be back,” a source told The Celeb Report. “Which would be a network decision, not her decision.”

The show has been renewed for two seasons and it will become the streaming service’s first live series.

The decision followed the season’s concerningly low ratings, which The Celeb Report insider blames not on the competition, but rather how it was presented.

“Production has been a mess, with no clear direction of where [the show] was going, which is why certain producers have been axed in recent months.”

Last year’s season, according to the source, was considered an on-screen success critically, as people enjoyed the contestants and winner Iman Shumpert.

But it had record-low viewership.

“The mix of the behind-the-scenes chaos and the historically low ratings ultimately was the nail in the coffin,” the source continued. “ABC didn’t feel it was worth the investment anymore, but didn’t want to drop it as a whole.”

HOST BACKLASH

Tyra’s absence will be a relief to some viewers as she’s faced backlash since she became the DWTS’ solo host for Season 29 after longtime host Tom Bergeron and his co-host Erin Andrews were let go.

In a problem-plagued Season 29, the fashion icon announced the wrong bottom two couple during the elimination process, blaming the broadcast blunder on a cue card mistake.

The following season, critics lashed out on everything from her interview style to her “taking too long” to announce Iman Shumpert as the season’s winner during the finale.

A fan petition to replace her on Change.org earned more than 14 thousand signatures.

‘DIDN’T FIT IN’

But the insider says Tyra is not completely responsible for the show’s move.

“I wouldn’t say it’s Tyra’s fault the show got dropped by the network,” the source confessed. “I mean, that certainly didn’t help, but she came in and did the job she was hired to do.

“The problem is, she just didn’t fit in.

“She didn’t fit in with producers and she didn’t fit with the audience and it showed.”

According to the insider, Tyra should never have been given the solo job in the first place.

But the source reveals the one-time Emmy winning show has been dancing with two left feet for years now.

“Dancing With The Stars has always operated like a family behind the scenes. And when new execs and producers came in a couple seasons ago, that family got broken.

“It hasn’t been the same show and everyone involved with it feels that to some degree. So it’s been an unhappy environment the past few seasons.”
