EAMONN's health struggles

EAMONN Holmes, 64, faced difficulties walking and expressed his struggles by saying "I'm not ok" upon arriving at the TRIC Awards alone in a wheelchair. The TV presenter, who has been battling ill-health in recent years, attended the event in London following his separation from wife Ruth Langsford.

Health battles and awards

EAMONN, who has been coping with chronic pain, underwent a double hip replacement in 2016 and subsequent surgery last year, leading to his reliance on a wheelchair. Despite contemplating skipping the awards due to his health, he was nominated for Best News Presenter and Best News Broadcast and ultimately decided to attend.

Support from colleagues

During the ceremony, after GB News won Best News Programme, EAMONN shared, "I had an operation a year and a half ago, and two things went wrong so I have two things in my back I don’t want. So I’ll happily accept this." His friend and colleague Isabel Webster, a newsreader at GB News, expressed her unwavering support for EAMONN during this challenging time.

Emotional split

Following his public announcement of the split with Ruth last month, EAMONN admitted, "I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all." Despite the separation, he expressed hope for an amicable relationship, stating, "It’s too early to say but I hope we can still be friends."
